Women’s Resources workers join the Union

On December 12 & 13, 2023 members at Women’s Resources of Kawartha Lakes voted in favour of union representation to join UFCW Locals 175 & 633. The 45 members at these three Women’s Resources locations work as Shelter Counsellors, Family Support Workers, Outreach, and Child/Youth and Casual/Relief Counsellors.

Beth Tikvah workers vote Union yes!

On January 23-24, 2024, workers at Beth Tikvah Foundation of Hamilton voted in favour of joining UFCW Locals 175 & 633 by an overwhelming margin.

Our newest members are Developmental Support Workers at five different locations in and around the city of Hamilton. Workers specialize in providing support to adults with developmental disabilities in group living, intensive support, and independent residences, as well as in-home services.

Metro Barry’s Bay workers vote to Join Union.

On October 25, 2023, the franchisee owners of the Metro store in Barry’s Bay, Ontario, announced their retirement, and that the store would be taken over by Metro corporate.

As a result of the news, workers contacted UFCW Locals 175 & 633 representatives in the area to discuss their options. Workers were faced with much uncertainty and were worried about their job security, securing scheduling rights and wages, benefits and pension, and ensuring income retention in the rural area where employment can be scarce.

Factory workers at Lallemand Inc. in Cornwall vote Union Yes!

On February 14 & 15, 2024, workers at Lallemand Inc. in Cornwall, Ontario, voted to join UFCW Locals 175 & 633.

The newest members of our Union specialize in the development, production and marketing of yeasts and bacteria. They are employed as machine operators and maintenance workers, and they joined our union to make improvements to their working conditions.

Workers at Timiskaming Funeral Cooperative join UFCW 175

On February 20, 2024, workers at the Timiskaming Funeral Cooperative in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, voted in favour of joining UFCW Locals 175 & 633.

As a previously run small business, the workers at Timiskaming Funeral Cooperative have been a close group, like family, for a long time.

Delmanor Retirement home workers join UFCW Local 175

On April 10 & 11, 2024, workers at Delmanor Retirement Home in Toronto voted to join UFCW Locals 175 & 633, becoming the newest members of the Healthcare Office and Professional Employees (HOPE) sector at the Union.
