Marek Hospitality Members Across Ontario Ratify

Members at Marek Hospitality working at seven locations across Ontario have ratified a new three-year collective agreement.
The 100 bargaining unit members achieved a number of improvements in the new agreement, including wage increases of 3% in year one, 2% in year two, and another 2% in year three.
The Union Negotiating Committee achieved a new premium of $0.50 per hour for employees assigned to Team Lead. In addition, nieces and nephews are now included in bereavement leave language.
For the members’ pension, the company will increase its annual contribution to $800, up from $700, for those employees with five years’ seniority, and to $1,100, up from $1,000, for those with 10 years’ seniority.
Members will benefit from increased vision care coverage of $300, up from $250, and enhanced annual uniform provisions. The show allowance also improves to provide $125 per year, up from $100. Sick days improve to provided two paid days per year.
The employer agrees to pay $1,250, up from $1,000, per year of the agreement term toward the UFCW Local 175 Training & Education Fund.
