Lakeside Retirement members ratify

Members of the UFCW Local 175 Health, Office & Professional Employees (HOPE) Sector who work at the Lakeside Retirement Resident in Innisfil have ratified a new three-year collective agreement.
The Union Negotiating Committee secured important improvements securing break language for four-hour shifts, and updated pension and benefit language throughout.
Members will benefit from an immediate across-the-board wage adjustment of $0.05 per hour, with increases of 3.5% in the first year, 3.25% in the second year, and 3% in the third year.
In addition, members will also see additional improvements through enhanced premiums, which increase to:
- $1.25 per hour for Unregulated Care Professionals;
- $0.50 per hour for Breakfast Cooks;
- $0.25 per hour for rotation of shifts;
- $0.25 per hour for night shift, and;
- A new premium of $0.10 per hour will be paid for weekend shifts.
The Committee negotiated to have a fifth week of paid vacation added for those with at least 20 years of continuous service. Pay out for unused sick days improves to 45%, up from 40%.
This renewal agreement now includes an additional Handy Person added to the bargaining unit as well as an additional Union Steward role to enhance the members’ protections on the job. Members will also benefit from an improved uniform allowance which now provides $180 for full-time, and $130 for part-time.
The UFCW Local 175 collective agreement at Lakeside Retirement Residence covers both full and part-time employees at the Innisfil home.
