Legion Village ratifies wage and shift premium increases and new RRSP contribution rates with new contract.
The HOPE sector members at Legion Village senior support services in Cobourg ratified a three-year agreement on July 24, 2024. Wage increases will be: Year 1 – 3.5% (retroactive to date of expiry) and Years 2 & 3 – 3.5% for all classifications except PSWs who will receive 2.5% in each year.
Premium increases effective July 1, 2025 will be: Afternoon shift – 55 cents to 65 cents per hour, Midnight premium from 55 cents to 75 cents per hour, Weekend premium from 30 cents to 50 cents per hour.
The Group RRSP contribution amount will increase for full-time employees from 4% to 5% with employer to match. New language will allow for part-time members to contribute to the Group RRSP at 3% with employer to match.
Effective April 1, 2026 the copay for Dental and Health & Welfare benefit premiums will change from 75/25 employer/employee paid to 80/20.
The vision care coverage will increase effective July 1, 2025 from $200 to $300 for full time employees and their dependants. Part-time eye exam coverage will increase from $35 to $50 once during the term of the agreement.
The uniform allowance will increase from $190 to $225 for full-time and part-time from $160 to $175 effective July 1, 2024.
There is a new vacation week of entitlement for those who achieve 32 years of service of 8 weeks at 16%.
