Cancoil ratifies wage improvements and increases to employer paid RRSP contributions with new collective agreement.

The 173 full-time members at CANCOIL Thermal Corporation in Kingston ratified a four-year agreement on July 28, 2024. Workers will receive wage increases of: Year 1 – 4.5% (retroactive to April 3, 2024), Years 2, 3 and 4 – 3% or inflation (whichever is greater).

Cancoil Kingston ratifies

The employer will make RRSP contributions for hours worked of: Date of Ratification – 60 cents per hour (up from 58.3 cents), Year 2 – 61.5 cents, Year 3 – 62.5 cents, and Year 4 – 64 cents, up to 2000 hours per year.

Language improvements include:

  • Vision care coverage increases to $200.00 up from $180.00.
  • Prescription glasses coverage increased to $150.00 up form $125.00 every 24 months.
  • Safety Boot allowance increased to $100 per year up from $90.00.
  • Clothing allowance increased to $100.00 up from $95.00.
  • Long Service Bonus at 25 years increased to $1000.00 up from $500.00.
  • New language added that will allow for any new holiday declared by the Provincial Government to be included in the list of holidays.
  • One day of negotiation prep to be paid by the employer.
  • Discipline on file of three-day suspensions or more will be reduced to 24 months instead of 36 months.
