Canadian Linen ratifies significant wage increases and improved premiums with new collective agreement.

The membership at Canadian Linen in Ottawa and Kingston ratified a four-year agreement on November 6, 2024 after a difficult set of bargaining.

This deal secures wage increases of 14.75% over the term, with the first-year increase of 5.75% retroactive to June 17, 2024. We were also successful in achieving language to ensure a minimum wage gap of 20 cents per hour will be maintained if needed over the term of the agreement.

There will also be premium increases for:

  • Soil/Counting – increases from 25 cents to 40 cents per hour.
  • New – Sewing premium of 25 cents per hour.
  • Lead Hand premium increases from 25 cents to 90 cents per hour.

The boot allowance will also increase by $25 up to $150 per year.

Additionally, although not included in the collective agreement language, discussions were held during negotiations and the employer has committed to providing menstrual products to all employees at no cost while at the workplace.
