Canna Cabana Waterloo Joins UFCW Locals 175 & 633

More and more retail cannabis workers across Ontario are turning to UFCW Local 175 to unionize as frontline employees push for better working conditions. With the rapid growth of legal cannabis retail, which employs thousands of workers across the country, it has become clear that there are number of challenges that workers in the sector face.

Cannabis retail workers often manage complex responsibilities. They need to understand regulations and detailed product information, and ensure compliance with strict security and inventory controls. Despite these demands, many workers report low wages, inconsistent scheduling, limited benefits, and high turnover.

Joining UFCW Local 175 can help workers unite to address these concerns.

In fact, workers at a number of cannabis retail stores have already successfully unionized with us! As a result, these UFCW members now negotiate together to build a better life with fair wages, predictable hours, safer workplaces, and clear policies around training and job security.

For retail cannabis workers, unionization is about more than contracts and wages. It is about having a say in a fast-growing industry and shaping a future where workers’ rights grow alongside corporate profits. By joining UFCW Local 175, cannabis workers are uniting and standing strong to make sure their employers know that their jobs are skilled, essential, and deserving of respect.

Congratulations to our newest members, welcome to your Union!
