Vera Davis unanimously ratifies significant wage increases and paid personal leave with new collective agreement.
The HOPE sector members employed by the Region of Peel working at Vera Davis Long-term care home in Bolton unanimously ratified a four-year agreement on June 13, 2024.
With this contract members secured wage increases of 12.25% over the term of the agreement. In addition to these increases, RPNs will see a wage adjustment of $2.00/hour at date of ratification. The PSW wage enhancement (formerly introduced by the provincial government) will be enshrined into the wage grid dated April 2022, and there will be an increase of 20 cents/hour to the weekend premium.
The committee was also able to achieve a much-needed psychological health benefit of $1000 per benefit year, and part time employees will receive an increase of 1% in lieu of psychological benefits. All members will receive a health spending account of $500/year and will be eligible for $400 dollars in vision care coverage over a 24-month period.
Other improvements include:
- Increase to the uniform allowance of $65 for full-time and $32.50 for part-time staff.
- Language was bargained regarding access to personal files.
- Three paid days for personal leave per calendar year.
