Garson Foodland ratifies wage increases and achieves paid sick days

The membership in Garson at Foodland ratified a three-year agreement on June 10, 2024. Full-time members at end rate including department managers will receive wage increases of: Year 1 – $1.00, Year 2 – $.50, and Year 3 – $1.00. Meat cutters will receive increases of Year 1 – $1.00, Year 2 – $0.50, and Year 3 – $.50. Part-time workers at end rate wage increases will be: Year 1 $18.20/hour, (up from MW+$1.00), Year 2 – MW+$1.00 or $18.45/hour, whichever is greater, and Year 3 – MW+$1.05 or $18.65/hour whichever is greater.
There will also be a signing bonus for all employees of $100.00, and anyone above end rate will receive $200.00.
Language improvements include:
- Vision care allowance increases to $300.00 up from $250.00 every 24 months.
- Christmas bonus for full-time will be $125.00 up from $100.00, and part-time employees will receive $100.00 up from $75.00.
- There will be new language to provide paid sick leave: full-time members with five years of service will receive eight hours of paid leave and part-time with five years of service will receive four hours of paid leave.
- The language regarding the selection of bargaining committee members will be updated.
