Stewards Seminars continue in Thunder Bay & Toronto
May 2, 2026
The final weekend of the 2026 Stewards Seminars is happening May 2 & 3 in Thunder Bay and Toronto.
Our Union Stewards are gathering together to network and learn from their instructors and each other through a variety of workshops aimed to help build the necessary skills and resources to continue being incredible advocates in the workplace.
Every day, our Union Stewards walk into their workplaces with their colleagues who need real protection. And those colleagues trust their Union Stewards to have their best interests at heart. To earn and keep that trust, Stewards have to stay informed, stay active, and engage with co-workers.
“I believe these weekends – and every training opportunity – are important,” said President Kelly Tosato. “As your Union, we want to make sure that all of our Stewards have what they need to feel supported, to be informed, and to take everything they learn in training back to the workplace so they can continue being incredible ambassadors for the union and advocates for their co-workers.”
“If the news over the last while has taught us nothing else – it’s that we have to be advocates for each other,” said Secretary-Treasurer Jim McLean. “We have to stand up and speak out and fight for what’s right. Being an advocate takes a commitment to the cause and a lot of persistence… because workers’ rights are a non-negotiable.”
Thank you to all of our Stewards who are taking part in this year’s seminars. Your Local Union and all of your colleagues at work appreciate your hard work and dedication to ensuring that workers’ rights and the terms of your collective agreements are upheld every day.
