Members at Salvation Army York Housing ratify wage grid improvements with increases, and language gains in new collective agreement.

UFCW Local 175 HOPE Community Health sector workers at Salvation Army York Housing in Newmarket, Sutton and Oshawa ratified a three-year agreement on December 3, 2025.

At date of ratification the wage grid will be adjusted so that all full-time employees will be placed at the highest wage rate for their classification. Any employee who does not receive a wage increase as a result of this adjustment will receive a one-time lump sum payment. This will now bring all employees across all sites on to a wage grid where everyone is aligned and will be paid the same rate based on classification.

Implementing a wage grid was a huge win for the members, and was a main priority for the membership in this round of bargaining. Additionally, a lump sum signing bonus of $500 will be paid to all active full-time employees.

Wages will then increase in both 2026 and 2027 by 3% each year.

Effective April 1, 2026, all employees working the overnight shift will receive a shift premium of twenty-five cents per hour.

Language improvements include:

  • One paid personal day for all full-time employees to be used within the calendar year effective January 1, 2026 and January 1, 2027.
  • Employees who provide a doctors note for any absence of five or more consecutive days upon request will be reimbursed to a maximum of $25.00 per year.
