Pino’s Get Fresh ratifies new collective agreement; gains pension, wage increases and new premiums

Pino’s Get Fresh in Sault Ste. Marie ratified a five-year agreement on March 5, 2024. Members wages will increase over the term of the agreement as follows:  Full-time – $3.55/hour, Meat cutters – $4.40/hour, and Part-time – $4.15/hour. There is a new premium when members cover a manger of $1.50/hour and another new premium of 50 cents per hour when working on the customer service desk.

Theses workers will now have a RRSP with employer matching of 2%, an important gain as these members did not previously have a pension plan.

Other language improvements include:

  • Optical allowance of up to $300 every 24 months.
  • One additional sick day for Full-time totaling six annually.
  • NEW: Shoe allowance of $100 annually.
  • Updated vacation language provides for a 5th week of vacation after 18 years for all employees, a benefit previously only afforded to those hired prior to 2005.

Union negotiating committee: Timothy Campbell and Mike Ivany. Union representative: Jim Hames.
