Members at the municipally run Norview Lodge in Simcoe have ratified a new freely bargained collective agreement that will see them through the next three years.

The bargaining unit at Norview Lodge is comprised of 22 Registered Nurses (RNs) who are part of the UFCW Local 175 Health, Office, and Professional Employee (HOPE) sector.

In this agreement, the Union Negotiation Committee secured substantial increases for the members of 3.5% in year one, 3% in year two, and 2.75% in year three. This amounts to 9.25% – nearly $5 per hour for the top rate – over the three-year collective agreement term.

Significant language improvements secure paid lunches for the charge nurse, which is inclusive of the supervisor shift premium. Members will also benefit from increased premiums for the evening, night, and weekend shifts. Further language improvements clarify language for switching shifts, which will assist members on that topic going forward. In addition, the health care spending account for members improves to $350 per year.
