Members at Metro Casselman secure increases and part-time sick leave

Metro Casselman ratified a four-year agreement on June 28, 2022. Full time members will see wage increases as follows: $2.20/hr – June 28/22 end rate + 0.55 cents + signing bonus for Full-time for workers in progression of $400, and full-time workers at end rate – $600, March 27, 2023 – end rate + $0.55, March 27, 2024 – end rate + $0.55, March 27, 2025 – end rate + $0.55
Part-time member increases will be Minimum Wage + grids with the end rate hour maximum reduced to 5201 hours from the previous 6500 hours, by the end of four years the rates will be Minimum Wage + $1.90. Part Time signing bonus of $150 – $350 depending on placement on the grid
Additional wage improvements include the full-time meat cutter grid reduced to 36 months rather than 48 months. U-scan premium introduced at 0.75/hour for both full and part-time. Night Shift premium increased to $1.10/hour and applicable to those that work after 9 pm.
Other improvements include:
- The vision care allowance increased to $250 plus $50 eye exam effective Sept. 1, 2022 for full-time.
- Part-time workers will have sick leave introduced for those that average 22 hours per week. January 1, 2023 – 16 hours and January 1, 2024 – 24 hours.
- Safety Boot Allowance increases to $125 per year with the option of $62.50 every 6 months for full-time and part-time will be entitled to $125 every 2 years with the option of $62.50 per year.
- Introduction of cross training language for part-time employees to enable workers to have the opportunity to secure more hours by working in another dept.
