Gumpert’s employees ratify

On July 21, 2018, the Union members at Gumpert’s ratified a a new agreement.
Employees at Gumpert’s receive lump sum payments of $400 in the first year, with $300 of that as of ratification and $100 by the end of January 2019. Rates increase across the board by 20 cents per hour in July 2019, and by another 50 cents per hour on June 30, 2020.
Language improvements achieved include new provisions addressing Bill 147 and Equal Pay for Equal Work. In addition, employees called for jury duty or required to take part as a witness in a court proceeding will receive up to two paid days leave.
Lastly, the employer will contribute $1,000 per year toward the UFCW Local 175 Training & Education Fund.
There are 47 unionized employees working full-time at S. Gumperts. The facility provides bakery supply and produces foods under private labels.
