On July 6, employees at Cargill Value Added Meats ratified a four-year agreement. The contract covers about 50 UFCW Local 175 Union members at the Brampton plant. The deal includes annual wage increases totalling $2.10 per hour over the contract term. The first increase provides retroactive pay of $1 per hour worked since February 18th of this year.

Shift premiums improve, and so does the coverage for eye glasses, eye exams, orthotics, and life insurance.

Language improvements address emergency leave days, freezer jackets, dues, payment for the negotiating committee, grievance procedures, plus an increase to the number of Stewards at the plant. The JHCS will also meet now on a monthly basis.

Thank you to the Union Negotiating Committee: Jorge William Chedraul, Easton Edwards, Alfred Jones, Union Reps Jose Demelo and Lionel MacEachern, and Region 6 Director, Rob Nicholas.
