Country Estates ratifies wage increases, language improvements and additional monetary gains with new collective agreement.

The HOPE Sector members at Country Estates Retirement Home in Lindsay unanimously ratified a two-year agreement on June 16, 2025.

Wages for these healthcare workers will increase in Year 1 ranging from 5.1% – 5.2%, and in Year 2 – 3.5%. A new classification will also be introduced of Head Cook with a premium of 50 cents per hour; this was a significant and sought after achievement for these members.

Language improvement and gains include:

  • An additional two days of bereavement leave and the option to delay one day until a later time.
  • A fifth week of vacation entitlement was achieved.
  • There will now be a weekend and night shift premium of 10 cents per hour.
  • An additional float day was also negotiated.

Union negotiating committee: Janice Dennie and Catherine Hogel. Union representative: Maxine Prince.
