Compass Group Etobicoke General Hospital ratifies

Compass Group Etobicoke General Hospital ratifies wage increases, achieves paid sick time and a group RRSP plan with new collective agreement.
The members employed by Compass Group Inc working at the Etobicoke General Hospital ratified a three-year agreement on June 4, 2025. This deal secures two wage increases year one in June and October ranging from 91 to 96 cents per hour, and increases in years two and three of 50 cents per hour. Language was also negotiated to ensure that no wage will be less than 52 cents above minimum wage during the term of the agreement.
There will be a shift premium of 75 cents per hour for employees who work the majority of their shift between 10pm and 6am.
A group RRSP matching program will commence in August of this year with a contribution rate of up to 2% of earnings with no cap.
Language improvements and gains include:
- Sick Leave – three paid shifts per year for employees who have six months of continuous service since January 1, 2025.
- Medical note reimbursement increases from $40 to $50.
- The employer will maintain a supply of menstrual products in the workplace.
- Safety footwear allowance reimbursement of $75 per year for employees who pass probation.
- Job posting period extended from 5 to 10 days.
- Grievance procedure timeline increased from 7 to 14 days.
- The employer will pay the wages of the negotiations committee.
- The employer contribution to the training and education fund will be $100 per year.
