Compass Group Southlake ratifies

Compass Group Southlake ratifies yearly wage increases, language improvements and achieves a group RRSP plan with new collective agreement.

The members working for Compass Group Canada at the Southlake Hospital in Newmarket ratified a three-year agreement on February 26, 2025. Wages will increase in each year of the term as follows: Year 1 – $0.80, Year 2 – $0.55, and Year 3 – $0.55 across all classifications. We were also able to negotiate minimum wage gap language to ensure that rates will not be less that 50 cents above minimum wage. There will also be a $50 signing bonus on ratification.

A new group RRSP plan will be introduced with the employer matching contributions of up to 2%. 

The coverage for health and welfare benefits will be $250 per year for Psychologist, Chiropractor, Naturopath, Podiatrist or Chiropodist, Speech Therapist, Osteopaths, and Massage Therapy.

Language improvements include:

• Coverage for Eye Glasses increases to $300 and Eye Exam $100 every 24 months.
• Shoe allowance increases from $25 over the term of the agreement to $75 in each year of the contract.
• The Lead hand premium increases from $1.00 to $1.25 per hour.
• Scheduled shifts will be a minimum of four hours for all employees.
• There will be an additional union steward added for a total of three in the workplace.
• Menstrual products will be made available for employees.
• Cross training language will be added for part time employees.
• Clarity and commitment to the Union and Health and safety bulletin boards management and meal allowance program.
