Comfort Inn Essa ratifies wage increases and language improvements with new collective bargaining agreement

Comfort Inn Essa Rd. members in Barrie ratified a three-year agreement on June 16, 2024.

In Year 1, all members will receive a 3% wage increase retroactive to February 2, 2024, and a second increase on August 1, 2024 of 3% for a 6% increase in year one, Year 2 – 2.5% and Year 3 – 2.5%. The night auditor premium will increase from 25 cents to 50 cents per hour.

Benefit improvements include an increase in the family health spending account from $200.00 to $250.00 per calendar year.

Other improvements include:

• The employer will pay for doctor’s notes up to $30.00 with receipt.
• Boot allowance increases from $100.00 to $125.00 per calendar year.
• One floater day for full-time after one year of service.
• In the event the provincial government declares any other day(s) a stat holiday, the employer agrees to recognize such day(s) as paid holiday(s).
• Part time members after completing their probationary period will be eligible for August Civic Holiday and their Birthday in the list of paid holidays.
• Disciplinary warnings reduced from fourteen months on file to twelve months.
