Canna Cabana Hamilton ratifies

Canna Cabana ratifies to increase full-time work, wage improvements and achieve gains to collective agreement language with new deal.

Canna Cabana in Hamilton, Stoney Creek and Ancaster ratified a three-year agreement on August 13, 2025, after a difficult set of bargaining.

Wages for the members will increase each year as follows: Year 1 – increases range from 73 cent to $1.00/hour, retroactive to date of expiry. Year 2 – increase range from 20 cents to 45 cents per hour. Year 3 – 30 to 40 cent increases per hour. The Midnight Premium will increase from $1.00 to $1.20 per hour.

Members will also receive a one-time signing bonus of $500.00 for full-time and $300.00 for part-time workers.

Language improvements include:

• With perseverance we were successful in achieving an increase to the full-time commitment from 7 to 14 employees.  An important win for these members.
• Increase to the number of stewards at each location. 
• The addition of a second float day for full-time employees with two years of service.
• A new shift lead position will be introduced that will create more opportunity for our members. This is a promotional position which will see a top rate $22.00 per hour by the end of the CBA. 
• Achieved time limit protection with respect to grievance timelines as it relates to referral to arbitration. 
• The employer will now pay wages of Negotiating committee members for 5 days instead of 3 days.
• The employer contribution to the Training and Education Fund will increase from four cents to five cents.
• The employer will now pay up to $200 dollars towards the cost of printing collective agreements.
