Avis members secure three-year deal with significant wage increases

The 166 members employed at Avis Car in Etobicoke have achieved a new three-year collective agreement with wage improvements that meet or exceed increases seen at other employers in the sector.

Improvements to end rates over the three-year term will bring increases of $1.25 per hour in year one, $1.10 per hour in year two, and $1.10 per hour in year three. In addition, 13 employees will benefit from a further wage adjustment of $.25 per hour in each year. Employees on the progression grid will also see rate improvements.

Premiums improve to provide $1.50 per hour for Lead, and all off-airport service agents will receive an increased premium of $1 per hour.

Members will further benefit from health and welfare improvements:

  • Massage therapy coverage increases to $500, up from $200.
  • Dental coverage will increase to $1,500.
  • Vision care improves to $400.
  • Medical note reimbursement improves to cover $30.

In addition, the shoe allowance improves to $150 for employees in the service agent, shuttler, rapid return, and select/go classifications. Counter agents receive an improved shoe allowance of $100.

Long-service Avis members with 23 years or more at the employer will benefit from an additional service paid day off for a total of two per year.

The agreement at Avis, ratified on September 17, 2025, covers 141 full-time and 25 part-time employees in the bargaining unit.
