2026 Stewards’ Seminars

The weekend Steward Seminars returned for 2026! This year, UFCW Locals 175 & 633 Stewards had the opportunity to take a two-day training at six seminars happening this Spring. Find coverage of this year’s seminars below:

National Day of Mourning

28/04/2026

In December 1990, the federal government passed the Workers Mourning Day Act, establishing April 28 as a National Day of Mourning.
And while remember and honour those who have lost their lives or who have been forever affected by workplace injuries and illnesses, we must also find renewed purpose and strength in the fight for better workplace health and safety.

For a list of the 2026 Day of Mourning commemorations – visit the Workers Health & Safety Centre website.

Every worker deserves to go home healthy at the end of the day.

Injured Workers Day

01/06/2026

Each year on June 1, we mark Injured Workers’ Day and pay respect to the hundreds of workers who have died or become injured while working on their job sites. Injured Workers Day is an opportunity to recognize the individuals who have suffered injuries and fatalities as a result of their workplace conditions.

We must stand together to acknowledge and support the workers who have lost their lives or been seriously injured as a result of hazardous workplaces. The day is an opportunity to collectively demand the provincial government ensure that workers’ safety is a priority and to pass legislation that ensures the well-being of every worker in the province. Together, we can save lives and prevent workplace injuries.

Across the country, Unions, injured workers and other activists rally to help bring awareness to injured workers and the struggles they face in getting fair compensation for their injuries and illnesses. Annual events include overnight vigils, rallies, marches, guest speakers, and panel discussions.

Thank you to all who joined us this year to help us stand up for the rights of Injured Workers! Find photos from June 1, 2025 events here on our Instagram page.

RSI Day

28/02/2027

Every year, health and safety activists commemorate Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) Day.

RSIs, also called Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs), are a family of painful disorders that can affect the nerves, muscles, and tendons through the body. That includes the neck, shoulders, upper and lower back, chest, arms, and hands.

There is a strong link between MSDs and known workplace risk factors and hazards, and workers across all industries can suffer from these often debilitating disorders.

Visit the Health & Safety section of our Downloads page to view information on RSIs.

If you believe that pain or an injury is work-related, make sure you speak to your doctor. For more information on filing a workplace injury claim, visit our Injured Workers section.
