Members of UFCW Locals 175 & 633 came together for the 2026 Member Engagement Conference, a two-day event focused on education, leadership development and strengthening member engagement across the union.

Held October 28 and 29, the conference brought active members together for a full program of presentations, panel discussions and interactive workshops designed to help members better understand their union and the important role they play in their workplaces.

The conference featured workshops on Collective Bargaining 101, Health and Safety, and Introduction to Your Union, providing members with practical information and opportunities to learn more about collective bargaining, workplace health and safety, and the resources and support available through UFCW Locals 175 & 633.

Members were welcomed by UFCW Locals 175 & 633 President Kelly Tosato, Secretary-Treasurer Jim McLean and union staff, who participated throughout the event. UFCW International President Milton Jones also joined the conference as a special guest and shared his enthusiasm for bringing members together for an event dedicated to education, participation, and leadership.

A featured session was led by Sandy Gerber, an accomplished writer and speaker, who delivered a presentation on Effective Communication. Her session explored the importance of clear, meaningful communication and provided members with valuable insights and practical tools they can apply when communicating with co-workers, colleagues and others in their workplaces. The presentation reinforced the important connection between effective communication, member engagement and strong leadership.

President Tosato highlighted the importance of members speaking up and taking an active role in their union.

The conference provided members with an opportunity to connect with one another, build their knowledge and strengthen their leadership skills. More importantly, it reinforced a central message throughout the two days: an active and informed membership is at the heart of a strong union.
