Healthcare workers at Wellfort Community Health Services’ Peel Region locations have chosen Union representation bringing in 146 new members to the UFCW Local 175 & 633 family.
Similar to the Dundas Health Centre, where employees also joined UFCW Local 175 earlier this year, the new bargaining unit is comprised of Nurses, Personal Support workers, team leads, office administration workers, support roles and a wider range of healthcare professionals. Members are in pursuit of a more inclusive environment, specifically one that prioritizes equitable treatment and standardized processes.
“Organizing the Dundas Health Centre paved the way for workers at the WellFort Community Health Services Peel Region locations. We are happy to welcome them into the membership,” said President Kelly Tosato. “We stand strong with the healthcare workers at WellFort and look forward to negotiating a collective bargaining agreement.”
The members who work for WellFort Community Health Services provide medical services to individuals and families in the Peel region of Ontario. Some of the services that members provide include healthcare awareness and educational programming for illnesses such as diabetes, HIV, and hepatitis C.
WellFort healthcare workers, congratulations on your newfound success and welcome to your Union!
