Workers at the Ottawa Rape Crisis Centre voted in favour of Union representation adding 10 new members to the UFCW Locals 175 & 633 family. The tight knit group reached out to the Union in the pursuit of equality, respect, fair wages, benefits, job security, and transparency.

The Ottawa Rape Crisis Centre provides support for people who have experienced sexual and gender-based violence. The organization also advocates for broader systemic change. The therapists working at the Ottawa Rape Crisis Centre facilitate trauma counselling, psychoeducation, and crisis support for clients in Ottawa.

Crisis centre therapists cannot pour from an empty cup. They face frequent exposure to traumatic events which can leave them emotionally depleted outside of work. By joining UFCW Local 175, the workers can begin collectively bargaining for equal treatment, job security, fair wages, and robust health benefits to ensure they can provide the best client care possible.

Congratulations to our newest members. Welcome to your Union!
