Wilfrid Laurier University ratifies wage increases and overtime language improvements with new collective agreement.

Wilfrid Laurier University members in Waterloo ratified a three-year agreement on June 7, 2024.

Wage increases are: August 1, 2024 – 4%, August 1, 2025 – 3%, and August 1, 2026 – 2%.

Lump Sum payments will be made the week following reading week as follows: Appendix A&B employees – $750, Appendix C full-time – $250.

Benefit improvements include $3,000 lifetime coverage for vaccines and an increase in the lifetime maximum for weight loss drug coverage from $500 to $5000. There will be a one-time option to select 4% in lieu of group RRSP, and full-time employees in Appendix C will have a one-time option to select 4% in lieu of benefits. There will be an option for full time employees to opt into the LTD plan.

Language improvements include:

  • An additional week of vacation at 25 years paid at 12%.
  • Double time paid when working during school closure for weather.
  • Improved call in language.
  • Appendix C employees can carry forward one year of sick leave credits.
  • There will be an option to opt out of the meal plan.
  • Overtime to be paid at time and one half for working six consecutive days and double time for working seven consecutive days.
  • Menstrual products to be available to all employees at no cost while at work.
