Warkworth Place ratifies
April 8, 2025
Warkworth Place ratifies increases to wages and improved language for premiums and benefits.
The HOPE Sector workers at Warkworth Place long-term care home ratified a two-year agreement on March 15, 2025. The deal secures general wage increases of: October 1, 2024 – 3.5%, and October 1, 2025 -3.5%. There will also be an increase of $1.00/hour for the RPN classification after both general wage increases in 2024 and 2025.
Premiums will increase as follows:
- Weekend premium will increase by five cents.
- All employees will receive an afternoon/evening shift premium of 25 cents per hour for all hours worked between 2pm and 11pm. The afternoon/evening shift premium will be paid from Monday to Friday.
- All employees will receive a night shift premium of 25 cents per hour for all hours worked between 11pm and 6am. Previously this premium was paid to those who only worked one type of shift, now every person in the unit will receive the premium; a significant achievement for these workers. The night shift premium will be paid from Monday to Friday.
Language improvements include:
- Vision care coverage increases to $300 one month following ratification and then a second increase to $325 on May 1, 2026.
- Bereavement leave for parents increased from 3 days to 5 days.
