Metro Fallingbrook ratifies numerous improvements to contract language and wage increases with new collective agreement.

The members at Metro Fallingbrook in Ottawa unanimously ratified a four-year agreement on February 25, 2025.

Wages improve for full-time at end rate: Year 1 – $1.00, Year 2 – $0.90, Year 3 – $0.85, and Year 4 – $0.80. The full-time wage scale now reflects MW plus throughout the grid achieving MW + $3.00 by the end of the term for full-time clerk.

The Meat Cutter grid will reduce to 30 months to reach end rate and will achieve MW plus $5.00 by the end of the contract.  

The part-time wage grid will reduce from 6501+ to 5201+ hours to reach end rate and MW Plus $2.25 by the end of the CBA. The grid is further adjusted to reach increases earlier and rates are higher throughout the grid. The student grid is reduced from 2600 hours to 1301 hours to reach end rate.

There will be a signing bonus paid to full-time workers on the seniority list at date of ratification of $150. Part-time on the seniority list at date of ratification and hired prior to January 1, 2023 – $100, and those hired after January 1, 2023 will receive $50.

The night shift premium will increase to $1.10 per hour.

Language improvements include:

  • Full-time Vision Care allowance will increase to $300 every 24 months.
  • Bereavement language: add Grandchild to five days with pay.
  • Safety boot allowance increased to $150/year for full-time and every two years for part-time with option to take $75 yearly.
  • Full-time will be entitled to one in every four weekends off (previously one in five).
  • Part-time employees working between five- and seven-hour shifts will receive two 15-minute paid rest periods.
  • Menstrual products will be made available upon request at no cost to employees while at the workplace.
