Sofina Foods London ratifies
August 5, 2025
Sofina Foods ratifies increases to wages and premiums, and is successful in maintaining important language with new contract.
The industrial food workers at Sofina Foods in London ratified a three-year agreement on July 20, 2025.
The deal secures wage increases for general labourers of: Year 1 – $0.90, Year 2 – $0.60, and Year – 3 $0.75. Maintenance will receive $3.25 over the term of the contract.
The members will also receive increases to premiums of:
- Afternoon – from $0.35 to $0.40.
- Night Shift – from $0.55 to $0.60.
- Lead Hand – from $0.50 to $0.75.
- NEW – Dual ticket – $1.00 premium.
The employer contribution to the pension plan will improve by 10 cent per hour over the term of the collective agreement.
Although the employer was set on stripping the contract of both past practice and Saturday and Sunday overtime, our committee held strong and retained this important language for the membership.
Other language improvements include:
- A member added to the Union JHSC increasing from three to four.
- PPE clothing improvements.
- Overtime will go to most senior on weekends.
- New Apprenticeship language.
- Additional time for Chief steward to spend with new employees.
