Pepsi Sudbury members gain wage adjustments and more in ratified agreement

The 29 members of UFCW Local 175 working at PepsiCo Beverages in Sudbury have ratified a new collective agreement that contains wage and other important gains.
All employees will see increases totalling $5 per hour over the term of the agreement. Those employees classified as Drivers and PES (service) will see an additional adjustment of $1.80 per hour in the first year; a market wage adjustment that was a significant win for these members.
Those on the afternoon and Saturday/Sunday shifts benefit from an improved premium of $1.55 per hour, and the Lead Hand classification will see a premium of $1.40 per hour above their regular rate. In addition, members gained a new training premium of $1 per hour with this agreement.
An increase to the shoe allowance, now $225 per year, also puts money back in the pockets of the members.
Language ensures that all Sault Ste. Marie runs will be done out of the Sudbury plant, which was a significant win for these members going forward. Plus, new language protects unionized merchandisers in North Bay.
The Union Negotiating Committee achieved important new language for phased-in retirement, and both the pension plan and health and welfare plan have been renewed for the duration of the agreement term.
The employer’s contributions to the UFCW Local 175 Training & Education Fund improves to $1,000 per year, and the employer will now cover $400 of the cost to print collective agreements for the members.
Union Negotiating Committee: Lawrence Bourget, Patrick Jewers, Matt Rome, and Union Representatives Jeff Barry, Michael Bernier, and Peter Wasney.
