Orangeville Sobeys ratifies new collective agreement with wage and language improvements

Leduc Supermarket Inc. members at Sobeys in Orangeville ratified a four-year agreement on June 13, 2023.
Full time at end rate will receive a $2.75 increase for the term of the agreement. At date of ratification full-time members at end rate will receive a $1.00 increase. Full time who are at the end rate will also receive a lump sum of $450 in 2024 and 2026.
Starting rate will be: Date of Ratification – $16.55, 2025 – $16.80, 2026 – $17.05, and 2027 – $17.30.
The part-time grid was shorted by 1500 hours. Part-time members will now be placed on the new wage progression in accordance with actual hours worked. Part-time at end rate also have Minimum Wage+ language included to provide for an increase if minimum wage should go up.
Other language improvements include:
- An employee who relieves an assistant manager or produce, meat, bakery, HMR or deli manager will receive a $1.00 premium up from $.75.
- Full time vison care coverage increased from $125 to $300 every two calendar years.
- Physiotherapist allowance from $1000 to $1500.
- Vacation for full time who have completed 12 years of service – 4 weeks of vacation at 8%.
- Boot allowance increase from $60.00 to $100.00 every two years.
- Full-time may be scheduled to have the Saturday prior to their vacation as well as the Sunday following their vacation off.
- Probationary period shorted from 480 hours to 350 hours.
- All new members will receive five minutes for orientation with a union steward.
- The Company agrees to pay $300.00 towards printing of the CBA.
