Olymel members in Brampton ratify new agreement

Olymel in Brampton ratified a five-year agreement on May 3, 2023. Members will receive wage increases at Date of Ratification of $ 1.50, Year 2 – $0.90, Year 3 – $0.90, Year 4 – $0.85 and Year 5 – $0.85. There will also be a lump sum payment of $1,000.

The Machine Operator and Lead Hand classifications will increase from grade 3 to grade 4. The afternoon shift premium will increase to $0.80 and the night shift premium will be $1.00.  With this contract the three-tier wage group was changed to a two-tier wage group with the third tier eliminated.

Increases to the pension contribution are as follows: 2023 – $30.00, 2024- $30.00 and 2025 – $40.00.

Other improvements include:

  • Chiropractor/Massage Therapy $550.00 combined (was $15 a visit up to 20 visit per year)
  • New Orthotics Coverage $350.00 per year
  • Safety boots increase $175.00 (was $135.00)
  • Eye glasses allowance $220.00 (was $200.00)
  • Members will now receive six weeks vacation after 28 years at 12%
  • Gender Neutrality will be reflected throughout the agreement
  • Maintenance Apprenticeship Program for members who qualify
  • Improved language for Back up Positions
