Metro March Rd. ratifies

Metro March Rd. ratifies increases to wages and improvements to contract language with new agreement.
The retail grocery members working at Metro March Rd. in Ottawa ratified a four-year agreement on May 13, 2025.
Full-time members at end rate will receive wage increases of: Year 1 – $1.00, Year 2 – $1.00, Year 3 – $0.85, and Year 4 – $0.85. Full-time classifications of clerk, cashier, and wrapper, in the grid, will receive MW+ $2.00 by the end of the contract. Full-time meat cutters, in the grid, will now reach end rate at 30 months and MW+ $5.00 by the end of the collective agreement.
Part-time clerks, cashiers, and wrappers, in the grid, will now reach end rate in 5,201+ hours and will achieve MW+ $2.30 by the end of the contract. Part-time workers will receive increases in their hourly rate every 350 hours worked. The student wage grid is reduced to 1301+ hours.
Language improvements include:
- Full-time vision coverage increases to $300.00 every 24 months.
- Bereavement – grandchild added to five days paid leave.
- Night shift premium increases to $1.10 per hour.
- Safety boot allowance increases to $150 per year for full-time and every two years for part-time with the option to take annually at $75.00.
- Full-time will now be entitled to one in every four weekends off, previously one in five.
- Menstrual products will be made available at the workplace for all employees at no cost.
