Forestview Retirement HLDAA award secures wage increases, a weekend premium and sick day improvements with new contract.
In an award dated May 7, 2025, Local 175 HOPE Sector members at Forestview Retirement Residence in Toronto secured a two-year collective agreement through the Hospital Labour Disputes Arbitration Act (HLDAA).
These healthcare workers will receive wage increases of 3.5% in each year of the agreement, with special wage increases to hourly rates for: RPN – $0.50, UCP – $.010, Cook 1 and Cook 2 – $.10, RSA and Life Enrichment – $0.20, RSA II, and Dining Services, Dietary, Housekeeping Maintenance, Dishwasher and Receptionist – $0.35. These wage adjustments result in wage increases of 4% and 5%.
There will also be the introduction of a weekend premium of 15 cents per hour.
Language improvements include that bereavement leave for immediate family members will increase to five days, and an increase to sick time so that workers will now accrue one day for every 255 hours worked.
