April 18, 2017
Compass Group workers at Extendicare in Lindsay ratified a new agreement on April 13, 2017.
Over the three-year contract members will receive rate increases totalling 85 cents per hour. Eye exam appointments will now be covered up to $60 per visit, up from $50, and health and dental benefits will now be provided until the age of 67 instead of the previous 65 years of age. The boot allowance increases and the employer will provide up to $20 reimbursement for a requested doctor’s note.
Bereavement provisions improve to four days’ leave, up from three, effective April 2018. New language introduces a sunset clause and leave of absence language. In the event an employee is absent from work due to sickness, injury, or approved leave of absence, the employer will contact the member prior to the termination of benefits and pay the benefits for that member while they are off work.
