Health care members at CSINW secure new agreement
April 11, 2019
On April 1, 2019, the 82 home health care workers employed by CSINW (formerly Hagi Independent Living) in Thunder Bay achieved a new two-year collective agreement.
Through conciliation, the parties addressed monetary issues and the restructuring of work hours for the members. Both of these concerns had led to an impasse in bargaining.
The ratified deal contains wage increases including a retroactive raise of 11 cents per hour for hours worked since October 1, 2018. Members will receive a rate increase of 11 cents per hour in January 2020, plus a pay equity adjustment of 21 cents per hour in April 2019, and again in April 2020.
In addition to increases, full-time members receive a lump sum payment of $300, and part-time members receive $200, in April 2019 and again in April 2020.
The parties agreed to a letter of understanding regarding hours of work and staffing levels.
