Durham Labour Council ratifies increases to wages, paid holidays and overtime language with new contract.
Durham Labour Council in Whitby ratified a one-year renewal on August 28, 2024, which will see the wages increase by 3%.
Language improvements include:
- The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation will be added to the list of paid holidays.
- Vacation will be paid out when the employee requests vacation time; vacation time can accumulate and members will be paid when they request time off.
- Any hours worked on Saturday, Sunday and Statutory holidays will be by mutual agreement, and will count as overtime paid at 1.5 times the rate. An important achievement for this workplace.
