CSH Meadowbrook members ratify freely bargaining agreement

Recently, the healthcare members working at CSH Meadowbrook in Lively secured a new collective agreement.

At the outset of this round of bargaining, the employer had been unwilling to provide adequate rate increases for the members. As a result, and because the members at this workplace fall under the Hospital Labour Disputes Arbitration Act (HLDAA) which prevents them from going on strike, a hearing in front of an arbitrator had been scheduled for mid-October. However, in September, the Union was able to bring the employer back to the table and secure a solid agreement with fair increases through free bargaining.

The ratified agreement at CSH Meadowbrook includes an initial general wage increase of 3.5% paid retroactive for hours worked since December 1, 2024. A second increase of 3.5% will be paid retroactive for hours worked since December 1, 2025. Retroactive pay will apply for all current and former employees.

In addition, employees classified as Guest Attendant, Activity Aide, and Cook will receive a further wage adjustment of 1%. Members will also benefit from an increased evening and weekend premium of $0.20 per hour, and improved vision care coverage of $300 per 24-month period.
