Caressant Care Fergus ratifies improvements to wages, benefits and language with new collective agreement.

The HOPE Sector workers at Caressant Care Nursing Home in Fergus unanimously ratified a two-year agreement on May 30, 2025. The members will receive general wage increases of 7% over the term of the contract. Additionally, there will be a special wage adjustment for RPNs of $1.00/hour prior to the general wage increase in each year. The weekend premium will increase by 15 cents.

A letter of understanding was established regarding improving the pension plan to ensure it will be addressed in the next round of bargaining. An important issue for these workers.

There will be a 15% increase to the employer contributions to the dental plan.

Language improvements include:

  • Optical coverage increases to $375 every 24 months.
  • Improvement to bereavement language.
  • Annual RPN registration fee will be reimbursed.  
  • A new PSW lead position will be added at an improved rate of pay.
  • Reduction in qualifying years for entitlement to a seventh week of vacation.
  • Improved stat holiday pay language.
