Ball Packaging ratifies

Ball Packaging ratifies wage increases, major benefit improvements and paid sick days with new collective agreement.
Ball Packaging workers in Whitby ratified a three-year agreement on March 31, 2025. Wages for the members will increase 11.25% over the term of the contract. Student employees will be paid at a rate of Minimum Wage + $1.50 and second year students will earn Minimum Wage + $2.00 per hour.
The Group RRSP amount has increased $100 and the employer will match contributions by 50% up to $1200.
Benefit improvements include:
- NEW – Paramedical services: Physiotherapist, Speech & Occupational therapist – Unlimited coverage.
- Chiropractor, Massage Therapy, Acupuncturist, Naturopath, Osteopath, Podiatrist – $1500 per year.
- Mental Health specialists (including psychologist, psychotherapist, clinical counselor, social worker – $1500 per year.
- Increased Sickness and Accident benefit: 60 days after ratification – $775 (increased $25), 2025 – $840 (increased $65), and 2026 – $915 (increased $75).
- NEW – AD&D insurance benefit of 1x annual salary.
In a hard-fought win, we achieved a Major Medical Plan which will have no lifetime maximum effective for each covered employee and covered dependent.
Language improvements include:
- NEW: three paid sick days. This achievement for our members is historic.
- Increase vision care from $300 to $400.
- Shoe allowance increased to $275.
- The employer will make menstrual products available to all employees at no cost while at the workplace.
