Livita Barrington members ratify freely bargained agreement
July 27, 2026
Healthcare members at Livita Barrington in Barrie have ratified a freely negotiated collective agreement that will see them through the next two years.

As with many healthcare collective agreements, in years past, the members at Livita Barrington have often had to wait through the long process of the Hospital Labour Disputes Arbitration Act (HLDAA). HLDAA is often used in the healthcare sector when parties cannot reach an agreement and the workers are unable to take strike action because they are considered essential.
UFCW Local 175 is making great strides in bargaining freely negotiated collective agreements whenever possible, leading to bigger and better – and timely – outcomes for our members in the healthcare sector.
The ratified agreement at Livita Barrington will see members receive an across-the-board increase of 3.5% in year one, retroactive for hours worked since the expiry of their previous agreement. The second year will bring across-the-board increases of 3%.
In addition, members will benefit from improve shift premiums including $0.35 per hour for Weekends, and $0.40 per hour for Night Shift. Vision care coverage will improve to $300, up from $250.
The Union Negotiating Committee bargained language for sick leave pay out, long-service employees’ award, and renewed language for meal allowances.
More than 30 healthcare workers are part of the Livita Barrington bargaining unit with the UFCW Local 175 Health, Office, and Professional Employees (HOPE) sector.
