Sodexo members working at the Salvation Army in Toronto have ratified a new collective agreement that will see them through the next three years.

The Union Negotiating Committee bargained for several improvements that were important to the membership at Sodexo. Previously, members did not receive breaks during their shifts. Now, their Union collective agreement provides two 15-minute paid breaks for shifts of 7.5 hours or longer.

In addition, members will benefit from negotiated improvements to vacation language, which now includes seniority, and they can now carry over unused sick time to a maximum of 30 days. Full-time members will be provided with two pairs of safety shoes, and part-time will be provided with one pair, selected through the Shoes for Crew program.

When it comes to wages, members at Sodexo will see increases totalling $2.10 per hour over the life of the agreement. The new agreement also secures a reduction in the employee’s shared portion of benefit premiums. Vision care coverage will increase to $250, up from $1540, and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance increases to $30,000, up from $25,000.
