In a heartwarming display of sportsmanship and generosity, the annual UFCW Locals 175 & 633 Charity Golf Tournament teed off this past weekend at the picturesque Lionhead Golf Club & Conference Centre in Mississauga. With a mix of avid golfers, community employers, and generous donors, the event brought together 144 participants and countless supporters to raise funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC). The LLSC is the largest registered charitable health agency dedicated to supporting the blood cancer community in Canada.
Through entry fees, donations and sponsorships, this tournament brought in more than $53,000.
A Day on the Greens
Under clear skies and cool spring temperatures, the tournament featured an 18-hole scramble format, allowing players of all skill levels to enjoy the course and compete for a good cause. Registration began around noon with breakfast and prize draws before players were sent off for the tournament.
President Kelly Tosato addressed the players and thanked them for supporting UFCW Locals 175 & 633 every year.
“Our annual Golf Tournament is about coming together for a greater purpose. We are incredibly grateful to every player, sponsor, volunteer, and supporter who consistently support us and our charity of choice, the LLSC. Your generosity, sportsmanship, and heart have made a lasting impact far beyond the greens. Thank you for helping us drive change, one swing at a time,” said President Kelly Tosato.
UFCW Locals 175 & 633 members and members at all UFCW locals across Canada have been the single largest supporter of the LLSC for the past 40 years. Participants were given an opportunity to learn more about the LLSC from Ryan O’Quinn, Director, National Business Development & Advancement at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada, who highlighted the importance of the organization’s mission and thanked sponsors and volunteers for their support.
“We are proud of our partnership with UFCW over the past four decades, raising $54 million dollars for life saving blood cancer research. You are true partners in the quest for a cure. We are winning! What was a death sentence, not even 30 years ago is now potentially a healthy and sustainable life after blood cancer,” said Ryan O’Quinn.

“This tournament is more than just a day of golf,” said President Kelly Tosato, “It’s a testament to what we can achieve when we come together for a common goal. Every swing, every donation, every volunteer hour— it all adds up to make a real difference.”
