In early December 2018, members of UFCW Local 175 working at National Car Rental at Pearson Airport achieved a new three-year collective agreement.

The Members at National Car will see their wages increase by 65 cents per hour as of ratification. Rates improve by another 65 cents per hour in year two, and by 70 cents per hour in the third year. Some of the non red-circled employees will be moved to the red circle group (off-grid) and will receive increases of $1.25 in year one, $1.25 in year two, and $1.35 in year three.

Members of the Union negotiating committee were successful at having an additional full-time relief position added to the workforce. In addition, more employees in each classification will be able to take vacation at the same time.

Other improvements include an enhanced shoe allowance, better overtime language, and the number of part-time rental agents that the employer may hire has been capped at seven.

The bargaining unit is comprised of approximately 60 full-time and 25 part-time employees working out of Pearson Airport in Toronto.

Union Negotiating Committee: William Barnett, Ahmed Ibrahim, Saleema Shakoor, and Union Rep Jehan Ahamed.
