3-year agreement for members at St. Peter’s Day Care

UFCW 175 Members at St. Peter's Day Care ratifyRecently, members of Local 175 providing day care services for The Church of St. Peter’s Children’s Day Care Centre, achieved a new three-year agreement.

Members will see wages improve by between 52 cents per hour and$1.75 per hour based on job classification. These increases are retroactive for hours worked since May 29, 2018. In year  two of the agreement, wages increase by 42 cents to 63 cents per hour, and in year three of the agreement wages increase another 35 cents to 68 cents per hour. In total, the new three-year agreement provides rate increases ranging from $1.29 per hour to $2.75 per hour based on job classification.

The employer will now reimburse 75% of the cost of First Aid and CPR training instead of the previous 50% reimbursement. In addition, the employer will contribute $300 per year, up from $150, toward the UFCW Local 175 Training & Education Fund.

The nine members at the Hamilton day care secured the agreement at a vote held December 11, 2018.
