Women’s Resources ratifies first contract

Women’s Resources secures wage increase, language gains and the benefits of unionization with first collective agreement.

The new HOPE Community Health members working at Women’s Resources – Kawartha Lakes in Lindsay have ratified their first collective agreement with a three-year term.

The deal secures wage increases for the members of: Year 1 – retroactive lump-sum payment as follows: $600 to be paid to each full and part-time employee and $100 to be paid to each Relief employee at ratification. There will be an additional ratification bonus of $400 for employees for successfully ratifying on the first vote. Year 2 and Year 3 – 2% increase across all classifications each year.

All employees who work a minimum of 21 hours per week will receive both health and welfare and dental benefit coverage. An RRSP was also secured for workers.

Language gains include:

  • Bereavement leave of five days for both full and part time workers for listed persons.
  • Three paid sick days.
  • Nine paid personal leave days.
  • Mileage language.
  • Leave of absence language.

These members will also now have the protection of unionized workers with a grievance and arbitration procedure, scheduling and posting language, a labour management committee and union security including just cause protection.
