Workers of Sodexo Canada Ltd. have voted for solidarity and have officially joined UFCW Locals 175 & 633. The new bargaining unit brings eight new members into the Union family.
The newly Unionized members working for Sodexo Canada are comprised of bakers working out of a Tim Horton’s outlet in Oakville, Ontario. The new members were in pursuit of stronger compensation and equitable treatment. By organizing, our new members are positioned to fight for stronger wages, comprehensive benefits, increased vacation time, and fair overtime pay.
The motivation that brought the workers of Sodexo Canada to UFCW Local 175 was rooted in respect. The workers were in search of a system that implemented fair and equitable treatment amongst all staff.
“Workplace success is based in reciprocity. When workers dedicate their time and energy into the workplace, it should be met with fair treatment and clear standards,” said UFCW Local 175 President Kelly Tosato. “We’re proud to stand with these workers. We look forward to supporting them in negotiating their first collective agreement, ensuring a fairer, more equitable working culture on the ground floor for Sodexo workers.”
Sodexo Canada workers facilitate the company’s food services and facilities management solutions across the country. The workers are the backbone of the daily operations that take place in food outlets in managed environments. This includes hospitals and university campuses.
Workers of Sodexo Canada, we’re proud to have you join us. Congratulations on this milestone and welcome to your Union!
