Sara Vista ratifies significant wage increases for HOPE Sector Healthcare workers at long-term care.
Sara Vista Long-term care home workers in Elmvale ratified new collective agreements on October 17, 2024. Both the RNs and Service Workers groups unanimously voted in favour of the two-year agreements. Wages were the area that these workers wanted to focus bargaining on and as a result:
Registered Nurses
Effective July 1, 2024 there will be a special wage adjustment and members will receive increases ranging from $2.79 start rate to $4.23 end rate per hour. July 1, 2025 – 3% general wage increase, bringing these RNs rates in line with hospital nursing wages.
Service Workers
September 1, 2023 – 3.5% general wage increase, September 1, 2024 – 3.5% general wage increase, retroactive to date of expiry. September 1, 2024 – $2.50 special wage adjustment for RPN classification.
Effective date of ratification: NEW – $0.25 per hour weekend premium
