Rymerson’s YIG ratifies wage increases and achieves part-time benefit coverage for workers in Belle River.

The membership working at Rymerson’s Your Independent Grocer in Belle River ratified a five-year agreement on November 17, 2024.

Wages improve for full-time clerk and meat cutters $4.50 over the term of collective agreement with the first $1.50 at ratification. Part-time clerks will receive an increase of 35 cents per hour at ratification and minimum wage plus language will be maintained for the term for those at end rate.

There will be a $1000 signing bonus for full-time, $400 signing bonus for part-time at end rate, and $100 for in scale members.

The employer will make RRSP contributions annually (previously was every two years).

Part-time workers will now receive benefits on a co-pay basis including life insurance, drug coverage, and vision care.

The footwear allowance will increase to $80.00 per year and the optical coverage will increase to $200 every two years in addition to eye exams.
